Black and White Photo of Railroad Depot

Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway arrived in Stuart in 1894, and this depot became the beating heart of our young community, the gateway through which came new residents, goods, and the promise of a thriving future.

About this object

Carefully preserved in its gold frame, this photograph captures the architectural pride of that transformative era, reminding us of the moment when a remote settlement on Florida's coast became connected to the wider world. For generations of Stuartites, the depot was where they welcomed loved ones home and watched their town grow from wilderness into a flourishing Treasure Coast city.
