Stereoviewer

Stereoviewer and cards

This wooden stereoviewer brought the wider world into Stuart homes during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when families gathered to marvel at three-dimensional scenes of distant places and exotic sights through paired photographic cards.

About this object

Like many household luxuries of the era, the stereoviewer arrived in Florida as the railroad connected our young settlement to the rest of America, offering curious minds a window onto landscapes and cultures they might never otherwise see.

On display, main floor, Dyer section.

Come in and see it. Open every day, 10 AM to 3 PM. Admission: free.
