it's great to be back we had a very busy summer until last month and then everybody else kind of when a hurricane hunting instead of coming to the museum actually the city closed us and and we're closed from Thursday to the next Wednesday but it was wonderful because we shutters and of course when they put them up I could no longer get in so I thought I had an extended vacation um this summer was very busy we are doing what I put in the newsletter and I hope all of you read been doing it for years it's a program called past perfect which is cataloging the museum every single item in the museum has had

its picture taken and we are going to go back to all the Acquisitions and put all the information we have on it and then we will have a catalog of what's in the museum I had my two granddaughters Allison and Ollie Jones working on it all summer and they got almost completely done so we're way ahead of where we were and I hope when we get it made some of you will be interested in fine um I have a most of my board is here and I have a new board member I want to introduce you to let's see let's start it's totally here with president no okay well the rest of you stand up

Commerce with the old Chamber of Commerce building that's set down there it's still there and they are 30 and they're special that the Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce went together on welcome ladies you've got can you find seats yeah okay uh I don't know anything else that we need to talk about further but I would thought oh Alice asked me to tell you that Jackie Thurlow where are you Jackie yeah sorry uh and her husband had been flying over to the Bahamas all week taking supplies and we would like to thank her thank you our program next month will be done by owls and it will be on with and no it's not just

with Stewart Heritage and will continue to work and so this makes me very happy but the idea was he said bring him he wrote a little uh article for the Wednesday your news section instead of bringing things from 1969 50 years ago Woodstock naturally what they call them and uh but he also was receptive to having local news 1969 big in our area and I thought what would make a really good program about that with people locally who really were a hard age and I really lucked out because June did she really was superintendently spoke between uh he is a volunteer I think yeah and all just Bridges it and uh he is a great

story tell her to move everything Maggie was on the county mission for 20 years and I almost realized the night that I added the book of arithmetic and she uh Vicki Davis has been the supervisor of elections for 50 years but then he thought you know she was on the school board and I thought it was only six years but she said eight years to talk she's a secret person here and I years he thought the politics and public office but I these are welcome people and I'm not going to say anymore I want them to tell you first about where they came from their background their childhood and I said in an email and

it's like two book of purses he's the oldest and he's made a live friend about yeah Christmas is also relaxation also Sandy for putting the program together it's exciting to have a chance to speak to somebody other than the graduating class she said everyone was far way back up uh starting with that I'm doing this is the ways to have a son of illegal documents but I was born in 1932 that brings the deadline and I was born on Christmas Day and my mother told me it was a real depression not the time we're going to be correct but she was depressed because she just Krishna said and the doctor came in told me about

the fact he had to make good eggnogs but documentation nothing but uh I grew up in a place called West Philadelphia it was the Southwest area of the city of Philadelphia we had a in the 50s when I run that area every thousand people about 23 000 people per square mile in Martin County during that second period of time there were 26 000 people in the county so you can see there's a somewhat of the variance of what I grew up and understood and what was hearing more in Japan and I grew up to learn a lot about Montana uh the first thing I would talk about about myself of course I was a graduate

in Westchester State College I went there on the work scholarship I played Sports I played Sports and I would tell you that when I was in seventh grade I knew I was going to be a teacher and I was going to be a physic teacher and I was going to be a coach and that never changed my mind in all the activities and opportunities in my lifetime I was so focused on doing that and that that's the way I started and that's really basically my childhood I enjoyed very much everything I could went to Westchester graduated in 1954 I was married that July I was drafted into service that next June and so uh I've

had a lot of experiences in getting to this point I was drafted spent two years two years in the United States Army um my wife came I was doing basic training down in Columbia South Carolina and to a Philadelphia building you talked about being out of the consequence I didn't go aware of it and then I was transferred up to Fort Monmouth for a period of time to go to school she followed me and that's where my son was born three months later after having been promised they would let me stay and teach it the school in which I was an important mom they said no the first and second person is in the class

class we needed two devices one on the Philippines and one mass in our Africa the basically whatever you want to go okay I never saw or heard of anything like that and so I chose the Philippines and after Slayer with my son a snow suit and I remember the color that's a little yellow snow suit I got on an airplane and traveled 11 000 miles from my family the only good thing about that was in the Flight I landed in Hawaii and on Christmas Eve and the flight took off at 11 30 that evening when I woke up the next morning they posted on the airline said well welcome it's the 26th of December so

I missed Christmas uh I did spend that time there and then my first introduction to Martin County was in 1957 my wife and son Scott her mom and dad had a little place over here in the room and recall sale seahorse Lodge it was a little fishing camp and because of conditions and things like that my wife couldn't you know handle the situation with her and the baby and came down here and that was a great move because she started working over the emergency room uh way back then and then later on in her life she spent 21 years important in the emergency room so we had a pretty good feel she did it anyhow

about Warren County I came back picked them up and back to Philadelphia and of course uh you know it was a it was a different time and a different era when I come back now we're back in the 60s 50s early 50s early 60s and I had a 10-year career in Markham Bay and uh in Philadelphia in coaching I enjoyed it I was pretty successful but in the Christmas vacations we'd always come down to Martin County and uh he was just starting to be here at Christmas and then one Christmas I decided more seriously I said you know maybe we might make this our home and I went to see Mr crook who was then

superintendent of schools and he was in his backyard I mean and that's the way that I took my uh introduction to the superintendent schools of Martin County and he hired me and so that next year he came and the greatest move I ever ever maybe in my life whether it was uh oh I shouldn't say that because sort of my family was my best movement but bringing him because raising my children in Martin County was a great thrill and great opportunity that's probably a good segue we'll do Maggie okay I didn't start coaching yet and it all kid was associated in Philadelphia college and meeting my husband's yeah that's a lot longer a year ago

I was born in 1940 in Jackson Hospital in Florida and that was the only place you could get born in the hospital uh I was not the most money yet but within our home and we give that a look and in 1985 all essays can stop my clothes were both yes right thank you for World War II we tried we're not us long with our own and our love okay in the bus stop so I understand horse the body a little bit before amen one of the things that I'm asking thinking about the idea that has taught different Generations feel about you so if I had to tell you that you know by 1950 1990

92 you know uh 1999 cars and telephones and this is all image of the speed of 78 years old to change his life for the cross was just like South Miami and there was not a single hypocratic life they could still remember my mom sold out into school and at least in school uh the Mueller jumping in the river were so loudly anyway but it was much slower and back then I was fearful I had four calls over I was living in what I thought the paradise the other thing was just like 1994 conceived absolutely sitting on sale from the organ of it is like you are one day or in local politicians career pulled

up right I had to figure out what's impossible and the very large very round man probably even work with God keepers now he's riding across the order and I understood foreign it out when running across the yard let's see in this University uh back in the Palm City Bridge the over the bridge has nothing to change the alpha new parade and the reason was they finally got to stay for our transformation to finish them we'll cause a baby before on the wrong side of the bridge when a friend request of the planet is closed it would have been over there are more fishermen and uh there was a fish house and a thread Ed Warehouse

uh we had uh the best flow of newspaper Came Upon ever had and her name was probably the best epic if he's paper and even though he played you ever had a chance to be over in my house they are quite quite wonderful anyway s uh we were not a universe state in the city now other states had a farming machinery Isabel um made any difference at all well as soon as most of our Democrats are coming upon him he just wanted books but as soon as I got yeah and about all of the music and as the apostles shift in our frustration habit they suddenly depending apply and decided oh thank God I suppose

foreign not yet I'm closing for you foreign foreign supervisor of elections from Martin County something growing up I never would have even considered a married I see co-workers in here and different ones Mary Shaw's been a co-worker for many years who else has has been a poll worker for us you raise your hand down here Joanne Hunt oh my goodness all of these back here Alice yes different one so thank you Mary Ruth thank you for what you've done in your service as a poem perfect just to introduce myself and I'm a sixth generation Floridian I was not born here in Martin County that I was born in our County when I was born in

part of town in Wauchula there was a little clinic in Wauchula and if you've been around for a number of years you probably heard about right about they're receiving the news talk that took place well after I was born so it of course is closed and people have said to me well maybe you were swapped at Birth and I said oh come on and my mom was number nine of 13 children my grandparents were High sellers of the Kissimmee River and they lived off the road they lived off the land and you have read a book or when I remember I think many of you in this room probably have that's basically the way we've

been already lived I brought a picture I think about my desk it's my favorite picture of the family man all of the family and take a look at it I give your 10 200 children in the picture but one of the main reasons and frost proof that there was one of the last nasty froze and my mom was born in 1927 around the lake of the road B and the Republic used to come to the house he was he was raised with Rita Grandma granddaddy always had a relationship with Indians in fact we go back into Morton County when my grandmother was just a little girl she and her family lived in India so I

grew out hearing stories about Indians the way they lived their culture and that wasn't until I was wrong and I asked Mom I said why were grandma and her family living in an Indian Town and it was because my great grandfather helped me cut up the road through his own Jupiter to Indian so so we go back to um deep roots in Martin Okeechobee Polk counties we go back to a Spaniard leaving and coming over settling in the Tampa area and then we descend for years so we moved in Martin to Martin County in 1960 67 for two reasons number one was because my dad was he was in produce all of his life he

managed patent houses in fact he had a little stand at Allison and Greg's Lockhart flea market for how many years Alice yeah and I would go and help him tonight but when I was old enough to stand on the box at a grading belt in the packing house which my grandkids two grandchildren are here have no idea what a packing house is I was creating a few houses some and we were really like a migrant family because we would Mama be sure that we finished school I have two brothers that we would finish school and then we would catch up with Dad North Carolina and then from there he would go to the Michigan and

he would manage Italian class it would work as children we're getting cucumbers and um it was a hard life for the family but for us kids we thought it was sleep so dad's asked to manage zarella Packing House his cucumber house here in Martin County so tomorrow he said my first year of high school and the second reason was because one of my other sisters had citric shop for many years in Lake Worth the City of Lake Worth simple reviews and asked her if she would consider pirate team a citrus shop on the Fort Pierce Plaza so that was in 60. 66. so I graduated from a packing house to a century shop when I

was 13 14 years of age and worked out there which was a great learning environment and experience and then we solved just like we see these sit with shots fresh fresh juice bagged fruit souvenirs coconut heads the Shakers so we were out there for 15 and a half years and you know I I really thought about Governor Burns a lot because he only served two years governor it was during a period of time in our Florida government and history that they were changing the statute to have our Governors Run and off presidential views so he got caught up in that two-year term cycle the very first one and then was to be it so I

really think about them to the century shop he and his wife Mildred had started at one point and the shop shopping was so successful it was a pilot as I said it was all seven of the classes so we were out there many years of years and we're putting them up early and when Cindy called me and said she'd like for me to serve all this panel about 1969 and politics and I was on Sandy I was in high school and there are so many of them here how many of you were at an hour County High School in 1968 1969 yes yes 1970 class of 1970 and it was a wonderful experience now to

have through children um was that picture that I saw the meaning wrong on was that 1967 Junior I was a junior and that is a big year because of not only contagious uh democratically to Republicans Federation and we used to talk about how that worked into your beginning career integration is aren't you glad you're going to have to be with schools anymore with all the props and I think back and I hope intelligence people I said well the problem just had over immigration the term the Chango and stay coming with really crippled modern County uh the federal mandates I have my finance officer which I do absolutely zero about budgeting who went from West Palm

Beach and I had to find that person who had teachers walk out it's the same line you should walk out on a superintendent we had loads of federal advantage and the biggest problem and people go back and say you can't compare it with the immigration but growth is the biggest problem and Maggie will tell you the reason that it is is because growth you need resources and of course when you're growing so fast those resources aren't there and I I looked at some of the statistics and when I became superintendent we had 28 000 people according to the census in when I retired in 1989 the census had us at a hundred thousand and today

the census would tell you that there are 160 000 so you know we saw such a substantial amount of growth uh during that period of time and also if you think you have problems we had five newspapers at that time we had seven reporters that constantly were in the office and actively worked to be we had three TV stations and two radio stations the top of all all so you say you would be honest and you stay pretty much at that at what you said and how you said uh so I'll talk a little bit about immigration because in my mind it really made the tremendous impact on the discounting and is symptomatic of what

caused this County to be what it is and shows and reveals what Martin County is all about um my background as I said was Philadelphia and I taught in both integrated schools and went to a new degree in school probably the most integrated School in the city in West Philadelphia High School uh taught in integrated school and then I taught in an all-black High School all boys it was six stories it had escalators it was in downtown Philadelphia right in the shadow to build it down and so I had some pretty fair experience about that before I came to Martin County and before I came here the other day I was going through same things

and I looked to see pictures of my teams and I looked at my head and practically and the entire team was glad I came to Martin County and I had I coached the 1966 football team that team was all white and had one black now you say what is the correlation of that the correlation is in both women's Martin County certainly wasn't there Ben Franklin was a junior varsity they won a game for Martin County that team is 66 Cent records that I don't think anybody will ever surpass number one it took 23 years to beat Vera Beach and they did and on the same year we defeated Vero Beach a hokey and Bellman on

the same year also winning the Suncoast Conference Western Division so it was a successful year so you see you think it's the correlation between the two well I look at it this way My Philosophy was if you look at a young person and whether you're a teacher with a business or whatever and you look at that person and you accepted and what they are and you're there to help them and they know that you have a personal interest in them and if they buy into what you tell us and what car and what your goals are you will be successful and I see one of my football players is here tonight and he would tell

you for sure that we knew each other real well and and we had that kind of relationship and that's that's what they did but that's not how I got to be superintendent actually I got to be superintendent by being one principal of the all black school and then you say well how's that work well what happened was I was named principal the school went on strike American flag upside down and all the kids took the chairs outside the next year I was supposed to take us here while during that period of time they went back to school because you know you have to have graduation you have to have the problem so there was lots

of encouragement to get back but they did go back and the superintendent then decided to take the job in another District so in Warren County was then without a superintendent and uh I'm football coach I'm principal of the operatic school never hadn't been there yet and during that summer I've got a call from the Republican party and in the middle of the Saturday night they said to me do you want to be superintendent we want no we want you to be superintendent of school and if you talk about a challenge I was as shocked as it was and I said I have to ask two people my wife and Jack's Mouse who at that time

was the assistant to contender um so I did that I did accept and nobody in the county was a very quiet thing until one time Dr Myers who was the head of Republican party at the time when it was Senator said do you have to go to the school board meeting and announce her appointment because if we don't at that time I was a Democrat Democrat is my safety nominated you and helped the government will appoint you and so we went unbeknownst to anybody into a school board meeting which was held over that old instruction Center walked into Dr Myers said in front of us there were three or four people from the Press high

school board members and Tom was Tom didn't know either School Board again I knew the chairman because I had coached his son one of the other school board members because we had had a disciplinary jobs one of their children and we never know how that works out and so there they are look at the working again and and facing what they had in the face and knew what they were facing but it worked out pretty good because the real reason everything changed is because people were unafraid the rest of the counties and even at the encouragement of the government at the time said let the court stop and there was fear about what would happen

there was fear because of people being disrupted not knowing who was going to teach where what substance were going to be available who was going to be valedictorian you know you can imagine in terms of other young people but what saved us really was the community Community was totally unafraid because when you're afraid you build a wall when you're unafraid you build a bridge and that bridge really is what brought this community together the teachers were absolutely great 90 of the people in Martin County were totally disrupted over a two-year period in that they were doing things that they had never experienced in their life and it was really a challenge for them it was

a challenge for me and and I certainly appreciate the support but without the support of the community we would have it never happened the koalas Club Tom's there he'll tell you they build a pool at Martin County High School uh the civitans got marketing they worked in the park the teachers really went together and did a great job and I like to just say that you know that's where it really happens the band activities the basketball football courts all of these things are really what concerns youngsters and so the first year we opened what was my school still it was principled until I was named Superintendent at Murray and we decided the school board in

conjunction with my recommendation decided that we would make Mary the ninth grade school for every student in Martin County and Martin County would be totally integrated now how many first of all mention about our Salford I'm not sure that really worked out great because now you put all the ninth graders and Mark count together they're really new they're freshmen they have no serious expectations at that point about what's going to happen to them and their lives are now beginning to form those that are going to be valid according to be working towards that end those that are going to be in the course with that and they don't have to worry anymore about who is

going to be the director of the teacher or whatever they were there and that really was probably the best of the integrated classes that came through the school but the other classes did too and they did it because the teachers you're dedicating themselves to making it work and and that's not easy to do you know there's a good teacher and a good teacher their attributes are they know their subject matter they are organized and they in one class and they have discipline but there's also another teacher and that's the great teacher and the difference between a great teacher and a good teacher is love and when you love your job whether your car won't start

in the morning or whether you you know your your child may be having some sniffles or their financial difficulties in your family but you go to work because you love what you do and the minute you walk in that door you're a different person and we were so fortunate in both communities both the black and the white to have people that were dedicated to just doing that and that truly made the difference again then the curriculum in the school changed and people got behind what we were doing every fifth grader was Martin County back in those days went and camped at night on the down on one of the islands every fifth grader had a

chance to every third grader had a chance to be drafted to go on this pool which was Bill on the Martin County High School it was just all kinds of activities and things happening and in Martin County high school now here's what happened in Martin County High School you had you had people around the country during our period of time you are familiar with and know the history that were grown in this class Martin County High School won an award freedom Foundation more participation in in activities that were patriotic and if you know we still continued our trips to the Bahamas no other school system anymore would catch the chance of taking their students can

you say that and they're laughing now there wasn't more than one that maybe got an airplane ride home early because the fools but it was one of the Great Expectations and one of the things we were able to follow legit those students at that school bought a section of the beach type of Shores that embraced ten thousand dollars in Martin County High School to build that to buy that Beach you know it just it just was amazing all the things that happened that built this and I can't not tell you about the basketball team too because for the high school that was a major change in that what happened was Don wall who was an

excellent person and it did exactly the things I said about knowing and knowing the youngster and being able to tell them that I can make you better and you can just follow and they were real successful and we filled up the gym but the thing about filling up the gym was it wasn't just the students at the school this town showed up in Mass the stage had about 400 seats every single seat was sold out before we hear the game and that gym was packed on every occasion the radio stations carrying the games when the team went to other places the tournaments and the state championship this Community College it became a great activity but

the thing that stays with me most was that after a basketball game our team didn't stand up and all the people would stand up they'd face the the plaque down to the law and they'd say the RMR which is respect appreciation for the school and what the school had done for them that on that wall there also is a flag and that's why some people have no idea what that story is about we had a young man his name was Charles Tyson III now Charles I had Charles as a student at Middle School he was an ordinary student he was out of class I probably couldn't do it uh you know he was just an

average student not calling any attention not being a good problem just doing what he was supposed to do when he went to the high school he was basically that kind of a student also because a lot of people didn't really remember teachers knew him from answering the questions and having them in a particular place but he didn't really the you know impression that way well his dad was called to be sure I'm not sure if anything heavily police in Cahokia and so the family and his senior year moved to the hope and in that move he was very dissatisfy I would having to go to school out there so he joined the Marines he went

into the Marines and of course you know where he ended up Vietnam uh he wrote a letter to his mother the night before he died he told her that the night before the group that went out came back pretty badly beat up and shot him and he did he said he didn't know whether he was going to come back in fact they had even come around that day and had him significantly for ten thousand dollars was what it was perhaps this happened the same time when we did it in school too and anyhow he went out that night and he told us other than that letter that the beneficiary of that ten thousand dollars in

scholarship in Martin County High School now that doesn't symbolize fields in the notion that went into that Community to get here difficult oh and the community support nothing else does it's why I'm practically living in that county the rest of my life and development and all these things that were happening I borrowed a lot from that group yeah she knows about the turnaround of our our community for about awareness communication so who would answer me I thought at the first time when I thought I was an innovators that the you know first 20 years I knew foreign leadership integration make cases and students Japan while all the rest of the South Florida was building himself

all the hatred and misery and made it pro worth it and he shot him with God he wasn't the leader of me at the community bless you join me and follow up on that road management thing the same thing I am a law prayers and people who gave the word god might they God did you hear the prayer they got something in the room so they had to pay the rules uh but this is earlier wants and all those hopes to the ball thing ordered and bear Middleton or the ones that made it happen and anything I may have and if put it down for a whole lot of you we're here to realize and

it's a rainbow of the human and at 1969 both sides of the Ohio uh celebrity point and maybe they were planning for mostly connected they knew the last places to embrace and fill between water right weapons foreign ridiculous and anyway that may be an activism um my first campaign uh interviews with my mother yeah account ants but this community with a changing group of people over the years this time another place to live a close Place Community understood that increasing your taxes you can doesn't work looking at higher Act is top or traffic or strong and we're right after out of schools and we also we lost about over the years but uh I am

very proud of what you people did possible foreign lot of ninth grade year in over 40 years older than I am well now I've said okay and I won't stand up to this older who's there I didn't even hear about things when I came to Jazz in Florida and elections a little bit about how it is to be in your seat how you get there so once it's ever changing this is supervisor elections started wow I wish I had the different the different supervisors because they all had a story and that's all right just do it okay you don't have to do it Miss Isabel was in the 60s supervisor of elections only it was

the Registrar of Elections that at that point in time in the same career dog became the supervisor of elections no she's twerking no um and then she resigned and the governor appointed Penny to take her placing Peggy my successor predecessor she was in an office for 21 years I in 1969 Martin County had 12 731 registered voters and 9106 were registered as Democrats 3449 were Republicans and this is a really exciting one because of where we are today 170 other today we have over 110 000 registered voters and about 57 000 are Republicans 27 000 are Democrats and 27 000 are other because a lot of our voters are registering with nobody affiliation it's not

even so much anymore registering with one of the minor parties such as the green party or libertarian thank you libertarian party it's registering with no party affiliation so you can see the change in our registration over the years and it has become a lot more technical a lot harder in this this position how many of you were here when we had the lever machines you went in and you pulled yeah that red lever to close the curtains behind you so that you could then pull the levers and cast your votes and because of the election of 2009 Jacks and everything there was a study that took place how how America vote Act was enacted by

Congress and those pieces of equipment were actually decertified they could no longer reuse and I can't tell you how many people still make the comment I wish we'd had the old believer Mission because I really liked those and we have one I think rob you have one at the Elliott Museum we haven't yeah we have one at the office and when when they were dispersed out there are a number of them in the ocean off the coast here as the bear is over here and then they went to the elementary school so that they could use them in middle school for Reflections that they had and we would get calls even after I came into

office you really need to come and get is those things weighed about 800 because we're not using this so the evolution from from the leader machines office at that time went to the touchscreen Electronic Phone equipment and they were not decertified at the Governor Chris when he came into office he mandated it as of the primary election 2008 we would have to have a big Bell so the entire State of Florida now has secret ballots which is really a good thing I was I was all over that because I like to have that paper in the event of a recount and one that we have in our last general election three Statewide accounts which was

the first ever we've never had a Statewide recount people will say oh but you did in 2000 no it didn't because in 2000 when the recounts were started in Palm Beach County they were stopped they would start in another county in the state before there are several homes they would be stopped so there was never an official so right now everything in the election is all about security as you can imagine cyber security um can't go into a whole lot about that but but you just know that we we kind of work very hard to make sure that as we go into 2020 that we are secure here in Martin County it's about security and

when you go to vote now you're not only happy Your Shine now but you're also going to have Spanish joined about so big just so you know this is so impressive how did you get into this place from being a junior in 1969. if you just comment we'll come back to the subject of integration environment you were just a kid are you aware no so no no what I said earlier I I would have never thought of being in the position you're in today when when my two our two daughters were born James in the back she just came in and it was at work high school she's a teacher out here and I mean

so I I just became very involved in in their school and ran for school or and when I was when I was running for school board I had to interact with the supervisor of elections office and I came home and I told Joe I told the girls I said one day we getting the job I really like having that was just something on the inside of inside so she announced on a Friday that she was retiring and I followed my papers on Monday and I said in the midterm of a school board term and having resigned to run and never looked back not one room it was it was just something that was on the

news foreign try to keep it very free but it just was one each one to say something that they want to think about that Danger yeah I have something that happens and I mean it is very sincerely and and you know they talk about being politicians get through yourself that's what you are anyhow Martin County will never be exactly as we remember it wasn't as the folks that went ahead of me remember the time of his family and and all the others that have been here married you know I knew all those folks and they have a history and they loved Warren County just as dearly as it could be but it was never going

to be the same well the same thing happened we love our County it will never be the same now you're here but you've got to preserve those things that we love people in front of us love and you love right now and it doesn't come because it's simply read the newspapers or hear things you must be more active and that way I'm telling you this community was as active as it could be maybe that would never happen again but you need to be active you need to be on guard and keep them what we always used to say in the schools it's the quality of life that's most important foreign and you have to say

25 percent of the pine trees off you have to save the earthquakes and a lot of those things like that I would say the thing we did that was probably uh we did anything we did our service District but single most important thing this community is all five health and over several of those in this week to buy the land foreign in 1981 out we had already done the same words from you lost 100 foot strips and in one day out came to the retirement theater vice versa said I'm making law apply at all it's a very good idea was very happy for us to five each and all that people he had to we

had authorities of the United States but all that other people death upon uh the result of that was the Hand by the time nowhere so uh everybody's for it and the schools has been at Lord that was the first bondage uh and other than that we had a celebration because I decided all over the beaches back to Beach and I don't know if you answer your emails later than that the only time the Bible we're up there's ever been an oracle contribution of this game thank you I do have to share one thing about the summer of 1969 because Jim I think it was the first year that Martin County High School allowed students to

participate in the second abroad from and Pam waxler boat to this year and myself and any other students at Martin County High School went to Europe for three weeks and we stayed on five years in five weeks ago but that it was five of these and we stayed on college campuses except for when we were in in Holland and Amsterdam and we stayed on board a boat but we studied the culture and the history of the country that we were in and they were able to go in the sightseeing one of enriching experiences that I carry with me throughout life and Pam's leaders and we we shared a room in on the ship yes 1967

1969 everywhere in London London we flew into Rome and then took the bus over the hours in different locations in 1969 the United States was not very well liked student in some of these sensation friends and we were sitting on a college campus and we would wake up to from what you call a piano music yeah if it was graffiti and kidneys yes students did not want us in Vietnam at that time so it was like payment you know gone and you know anyways so our last stop was was London and we stayed outside of London in a little village and that's when Myanmar the first time we watched that televised we were on the

big one where we've watched that take a place in in the londoners were very very happy and very very short story work us they're glad you got the moon into them but in in closing Martin County High School was I think when we graduated from high school it was the best time because it was the only Hospital of time so we got to go to school with with kids from Indiantown and homes down in the Jensen Beach Palm City Union so we've got a flavor of the entire account thank you Jim for all of your years Mary thank you what you do here because you are preserving our history and our culture and I'm talking

about the super shop I'm working with the an archives from Florida Southern College I'm meeting with her the end of this month to turn over some pictures of assistant shops because they had no history of that and that's where they preserve Citrus history for the State of Florida so I want that preserved for these guys later here on them thank you
